iPads and Androids are Popping Up Everywhere!!!

Consumerized IT is the term floating around about the growing acceptance of our end users with non-approved mobile devices such as phones and tablets. In the past, if it wasn't a supported device, it was not allowed to be used for business. Now with the millions of iPhones, Android devices, and other products being used day to day by our end users, the rules no longer apply, it seems. Many expected the RIM Playbook to be the tablet of choice, but recently they have dropped in price just as the HP Tablet did and their life-span seems to be near end.

So how do we support this growing need of our users to carry tablets and phones that get the job done? Very good question, and a big growing concern amoungst us. I was in a "Windows 7 Deployment Training" meeting and I left my iPad at home because the topic was Windows 7. Every single person in the meeting pulled out their iPad to keep notes and check calendars and use the web for reference. I was left out... and should have brought my iPad.

I also taught a Windows 7 Config and Support course and 4 people in the room had the HP Tablet, one of them reconfigured with Android, and two others had iPads, and a few more had iPhones. These were IT support people! See what I mean?
